Colorguard Director

 

Hunter DeYoung first began his teaching career back in 2019 and has taught multiple schools throughout the Midwest and Southeastern states. On top of teaching, he has also performed with a multitude of DCI/WGI organizations including Phantom Regiment (2019), University of South Florida (2021), Carolina Crown (2022), Elevate (2022, 2023), and Edge World (2024). Hunter now resides in Atlanta, GA where he has been serving as head colorguard director for Grayson High School since the fall of 2023. Hunter continues to grow an inviting space for all students who wish to experience the colorguard activity! One of his favorite things about this sport is being apart of all the life-long memories we share year after year!

David Thomas, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, is a seasoned music educator and conductor with a passion for fostering musical talent. With over 40 years of experience in music education and performance, he has honed his skills directing choirs, orchestras, and marching bands, as well as teaching piano, saxophone (his primary instrument), and voice. David holds a Master of Music in Music Education from The University of Florida, where he worked closely with Dr. William Bauer, a renowned expert in digital pedagogy for music.
 
Currently he teaches Music Technology, Piano, and is the Jazz Band Director at Grayson High School. David's influence in the marching arts is evident in his role as an instructor and staff member with the Marching Band here since 2016, further showcasing his versatility and deep commitment to music education..David is a sought-after clinician, his dedication to music education evident through numerous presentations at conferences both nationally and internationally, including the NAfME National Conference and the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference.
 
His expertise extends outside of the classroom into the community where he serves as Music Director at First Baptist Church in Grayson. Beyond professional endeavors, David cherishes time with his three grown children and four grandchildren, embodying a life richly intertwined with music in a community where he has resided for over two decades.
